Provided you have a water-proof USB-C port and can seal the area around the opening, this should maintain the IP44 rating. Although, I have not tested this, so use outdoors at your own risk.

Required Items:

  • Short screw from Solvinden x1

  • Long screw from Solvinden x2

  • USB-C PCB x1

  • M2x8 screw x1

  • SS13 diode x1 (the specific diode doesn't matter, just make sure it has a forward voltage of 0.5V and can handle at least 200 mA. Any basic Schottky diode should work)

  • 22awg wire x5 cm

  • Heat shrink tubing

Instructions:

  1. Disassemble battery holder and snip the two wires as close to the terminals as possible.

  2. Solder your diode's cathode to your short length of wire.

  3. Solder the negative wire of the solvinden (should be much shorter than the positive wire) to the anode. Pass the wires through the solvinden_USB_C-Inner part.

  4. Screw the Solvinden PCB into solvinden_USB_C-Inner using the short screw that was holding it down in the original part.

  5. Slip the heat shrink tubing over the negative wire, covering the diode, then solder both wires to your USB-C breakout board. Trim the wires poking out the back of the PCB.

  6. Slide the PCB into solvinden_USB_C-Outer, and try to get it as far forward as it will go.

  1. Place solvinden_USB_C-USB_Key behind the PCB and screw it down with the M2x8 screw. Again, push it as far forward to lock the board in place and prevent it from sliding backwards.

  1. Push solvinden_USB_C-Outer over solvinden_USB_C-Inner, being mindful of the wires not getting pinched anywhere. Screw it down using the the two longer screws.
