A 3D-printable replica of a ring-shaped ICD magnet, inspired by the Medtronic 9466 Patient Magnet. Designed as an affordable prop for clinical simulation and healthcare education.
Real ICD magnets are used to temporarily suspend implantable cardioverter-defibrillator tachyarrhythmia therapies, for example when a device delivers inappropriate shocks. This model allows learners to practise locating, positioning and securing a simulated magnet during a scenario.
Suggested uses:
ALS scenarios involving inappropriate ICD shocks.
Perioperative management simulations involving patients with an ICD.
Teaching the differences between ICD and pacemaker responses to a magnet.
Familiarisation with equipment that learners may rarely encounter in practice.
The model is approximately 75 mm in outer diameter and 16 mm thick. Blue filament can be used to resemble the original device. For more heavy feel, increase infill of the print.
For simulation and educational use only. This printed model has no magnetic function and cannot deactivate or alter an implanted device. Do not add a real magnet if using it as a simulation prop.
This is an independently created educational model and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Medtronic.
