Overview

I wanted a simple case that doesn't put extreme strain on any U.FL-to-SMA adapter or the U.FL connector itself. This case does exactly that — a long, slim design that keeps the adapter as straight as possible.

The housing allows easy access to both buttons while preventing accidental presses. It also includes a hole on the bottom so you can easily check if the U.FL connector has come loose (and is totally not a modeling error I was too lazy to fix).

a 6in and 8in extension version are available.

Parts Used

  • Adapter: 6in U.FL-to-SMA cable — Amazon link

  • Filament: PCTG Pro from 3D Fuel (any rigid filament should work fine — I keep this in my car, so I need the higher heat tolerance PCTG offers to prevent warping)

Print Settings

  • 15% adaptive cubic infill

  • 3 wall loops

  • 4–5 top/bottom shell layers

Case: Print laying down, cavity facing upward. No supports needed.

Lid: Print upright, flush side down, with the 2 prongs pointing up. Use tree supports.

Assembly Instructions

  1. Place the adapter in the case with the flat spot of the SMA port facing down.

  2. On the other end, use a pokey tool to line up the connector with the hole.

  3. Slide a long pokey tool through the inside of the case and press on the back of the adapter to push it through.

  4. Screw down the adapter using an M5 nut driver or wrench until tight.

  5. Attach the U.FL connector to the T114 and place it into the case — the cable should bend to the side easily.

  6. Use your pokey tool to press down on the connector and confirm it's seated (not loose).

  7. Slide the lid on from the bottom of the case, with the 2 prongs facing the antenna port.
