Polymakers PolyBox is a dry storage box designed to provide the optimum environment for 3D printing filaments. The PTFE tubes were originaly mounted in the lid of the PolyBox. Polymaker has updated their PolyBox to PolyBox Edition II. In version II, the PTFE tubes are mounted in the bottom.
This makes changing filament a lot easier! Buying a new PolyBox is quite expensive, so I designed a vase mode print that fits exactly in the original 8 mm holes and creates an almost airtight seal.
How to upgrade:
Step1 : Remove the original PTFE tubes and rubber plugs gently from the lid. Push the printed plugs inside the lid from the inside. The bigger flat rim of the printed part should be inside the lid. The hollow part of the print should face outward. The bigger rim prevents the plugs from being pushed out of the holes by the air pressure when placing the lid on the box.
Drill 1 to 3 of 8 mm holes in the black base and move the original rubber plugs and PTFE tubes to the holes. The holes should be drilled about 15-20 mm above the black inside grid.
Done!
