Features:

For my projects I wanted to have a symmetrical case to mount my often used Waveshare e-Paper 7.5” displays into. I found a lot of cases, but most of them had no symmetrical borders and a lot of them came with screw holes or other holes. So maybe not the cases i wanted to put on my wall or on my desk…

This case has the following features:

“Outside“ part:

  • Symmetrical borders
  • The actual real used display area is shown to the user only. The borders and the circuit parts of the display are completely hidden
  • Small footprint: 199x134x25mm (WxHxD)
  • No holes shown on the complete outside so that it should look clean on a wall or your desk
  • Update 22.12.2022: Because of a user request, there is now an optional outside part with 15mm more height to be able to put in more and heigher components.

“Inside“ part:

  • Slot mount for an ESP32 or ESP8266 with a width of 25mm and a length of ~45mm
  • Pocket mount for a 10000mAh and a 1000mAh battery as shown in the pictures
  • Mount for the e-Paper HAT board
  • No screws needed to mount the parts.
  • The HAT is locked in place with 4 of the rings as shown in the pictures
  • Good support for the fragile display from the inside part which covers it almost completely from the back
  • The display itself is secured in place with the inside part pressed on the posts of the outside part as shown in the pictures

“Lid“ (with holes) part:

  • In the invisble lid on the back there are 3 holes for wall mounting and a bigger hole to charge the battery or reprogramming the ESP without the need to open the case again.
  • The lid cannot be seen from the side directly when it is placed on a wall or on a desk
  • If you use the big 10000mAh battery you might want to use the 2 holes on the outside of the lid to get it straight on the wall. The holes are each 60mm from the center, so 120mm apart from each other
  • The lid clicks into place with 4 strong locking noses into the case and can be reopened. It is a bit tight but I wanted it to be this way
  • Lots of space even for a big 10000mAh battery as shown in the pictures. The small 1000mAh battery powers the shown calendar project for about 4-5 months depending on the Wi-Fi signal strength and thanks to the very power efficient Lolin D32, so the case is not opened that often. Using the big battery would multiply this time a lot

“Lid no holes“ part:

  • In case you do not want to put it on your wall the case can be placed on a desk without any other additional steps as well.
  • The lid cannot be seen from the side directly when it is placed on a desk
  • This part is a lid with no holes on the back at all

“Ring” part:

  • You need 4 of these rings to secure the HAT in place
  • If you use the .GCode file 4 of them will be printed

Printing instructions:

  • 0.2 speed profile with nozzle set to 215°C and bed to 60°C
  • 5mm brim set on and skirt turned off
  • No supports needed for all parts
  • The 4 rings were printed without the brim and with 100% infill

Happy printing :)
