25-Jun-2026 Update: made a minor tweak to this design that adds a directional arrow to help keep the tool in the proper alignment when in use. Point the arrow to the top of the keyboard.
31-Oct 2022 Update: I've revised this tool completely here.
23-Oct-2022 Update: I added some tiny little arrows so you can see which way to align the tool more easily from the top. The arrows should align with the tabs on the housing.
I was finding myself doing the monotonous task of removing the housings from my Topre keyboard and thinking, there's got to be a faster way.
So I whipped this up and definitely fixed the speed and effort required to remove them.
It's a two step process that you'll be able to feel. In one step, you push the housing retention clips down, then you rotate it 90 degrees, and pop it completely out. You can also flip it over to push the housing out as well, thanks for exploring that Nekotato!
I'm going to work on revising this design to do it in one step, but for now this is so much better than using a spudger to release one side then the other, and finally popping it out with my thumb.
