The CO2 bottle fixing block in my Sodastream carbonator broke, so I decided to make one myself.
Updates:
15.4.2024 - Second one lasted again roughly a year. PLA might not be the best material. Try to use PETG or even better PC or Nylon which all have higher creep strength, but only if you can get great quality overhangs with them.
11.03.2023 - Revision 2: First one lasted around a year of use and failed in the same place - this time hairline crack that started leaking. Lasted slightly shorter time than the original part. Not great, not terrible. I reinforced it more, reprinted and changed again. New model available.
Hardware required:
- Broken Sodastream
- Teflon (PTFE) tape
Print instructions:
- Print without supports oriented at an 45° angle as shown on photos.
- 100% infill since this needs a gas seal
- very low layer height
- Brim is helpful
Best would be to do it on SLA printer, but FDM is (barely) capable of producing usable part as well.
License:
Not that I'm particularly concerned what you do with it, but it's mostly Sodastreams design so it is for noncommercial use only.
