The retainer holds the top of the switch in place. The proof of concept of the retainer mechanism snapping into the holes, if not for this specific application, provides my version of how to do it.
Printed with PETG, 0.4mm nozzle, 0.2mm layer height, 3 to 4 perimeters for strength, 15% GRID infill, no supports.
Update 2023-11-22: added retainer and clip for typical 8-port Ethernet switch, 26mm depth.
