This is a super fun way to add a statement piece to any outfit you wear this Thanksgiving!
There are a few different files with different words or designs. I am happy to keep adding more as people request them!
The concept is that you print a few layers of the model and then pause the print. You then lay the fabric or clothing over the piece and pin it down. You then continue printing and you end up with your print being wearable!
As you can see I tried this on regular fabric from a T-shirt as well. It does not need the print to be stopped and the fabric laid down. You put the fabric on the build plate and pull it tight and start printing!
I have made it so there is a file with the box around and words without depending on the printer and mesh. The box will keep the letters from moving but if you want them to move and flow with you then print without the box.
The best cloth that this works for is a mesh type of cloth! You also want a solid or close-to-solid infill to allow the most surface area for the cloth to be sandwiched in between. No supports needed for any of them.
I have been working a lot with printing onto fabrics and would love some support. This idea allows you to customize anything you want to wear with something you enjoy doing. These prints always end up being a statement piece and conversation starter. ( Although that one family member might still make it political somehow…haha)
The print is rounded on the corners so it won't poke your skin. There are so many fun ways to use this. Here are some of the ones that I have tried that have come out well!: Print directly onto the shirt you are going to wear, print onto a piece of clothing you are going to wear, Print onto tights that are showing through your outfit, and add some extra fabric after finishing the print-behind the print to make it more comfortable. It is surprisingly flexible even in PLA since it is such few layers.
