Visualizing the cloud is a challenge which makes sleeping hard. Hence a cloud enabled night light.

This cloud can be used as a stand alone night light or an IOT visualisation tool. The cutouts in the base are made to fit a Wemos D1 mini, a cheap wifi enabled microcontroller (esp8266) and a led strip of maximum 12mm wide and 145mm long. These can be programmed as a stand alone unit using arduino or integrated in homeassistant with esphome. By using individually adressable leds and the fastled library, a color gradient can be obtained.

To make it more bedroom friendly, I've tried to sculpt a sleaping bear on top of the cloud. The bear is a separate model, so it is easy to print in a different color and can be glued in place.

I printed the base in a dark gray PLA (Fillamentum Extrafill Vertigo Grey), 10% infill and 2 perimeters with a .6 nozzle size. The cloud is printed in a transparant PETG, no infill, 2 perimeters and 4 top layers. The cloud could be printed without support, but the end result might be much more visually appealing with some support available. Using a fuzzy skin might also help scattering the light and hiding small print defects. The bear is printed in Light Ivory from Fillamentum with a fuzzy skin. For a better skin effect, the bear is printed upright on a raft, so the layer lines are slanted 45° down from left to right in display position.

The design has been made in Fusion360 and is my first attempt at sculpting organic shapes.
