This is a x-mas star, that contains 15 (version 1) or 20 (version 2) WS2812 addressable LED's. It makes use of the WLED library and phone app to control many colourful effects.
All the spikes light up on two sides.. The midsection (on the front only) has five LED's for even more colour. (The back can be opened, and screwed to the body, to allow easy access in case you need to update the software or for repairs).

UPDATE: Version 2 now available. Lessons learned.. I now added five more LED's in the midsection facing the other direction to make this star ‘two-sided’. Also the cutouts for the wires have been made bigger for easier soldering. And the walls of the  ‘spikes’ of the star are 0.8mm thinner to better show the lights. More over the very tips of these spikes are hollow now to illuminate to the very tip of the spike. Finally the top-cap has only 4 posts, to hold the ESP32-MINI-D1. This ESP has a smaller footprint. You can print the V1 cap if you like to stick to the bigger ESP32 footprint.

This star was printed in PLA (creme white, silk) with 0.2mm layers.  The star can also be used “as is” without the lights, just as a nice decoration.

the size of the star is about 30cm by 30cm

Other requirements:
- ESP32
- WS2812 LED's (not on a ribbon, but as single LED's) (15 for V1 and 20 for V2)
- Wires and Solder
- Connector
- Glue

There are four 3MF files, with orientation and setting for a Prusa MK3+ with MMU (single color use). You might need to change this according to your printer settings.

Build instructions:
1. Print all parts. I have made 4 files (for V2, all parts are as separate file, 8 in total), that on average need 3 to 6 hours print time (~24h total)
2. Glue all LED's in place (see photo). I have used a 3D-PEN with PLA for this. Be aware of the orientation of the LED's, to make sure that input and output are lining up.
3. Solder all LED's. For the mid section I used simple metal wire without insulation as this is thin and easy to use. For connecting the spikes I use normal wire. Use the holes to thread trough the wire to go from one spike to the other. (See photo).
4. Connect the ESP and upload the software to the ESP. (https://kno.wled.ge/basics/install-binary/) and test before you start to glue the spikes to the middle section.
5. The spikes and the middle section contains tabs and grooves to ensure proper orientation. Put some glue in the grooves and put the star together.
6. You are done!! Enjoy your colourful star.

(note if you take a close look at the photo with the five LED's in the midsections, I made a mistake there, one LED is not in the correct orientation!, Check before glue!)
