This Deej volume mixer I designed has 6 knobs and a display that are run by an “arduino nano”. Here's more details the open-source deej project. The 3D printed components are listed below:

  • Front Enclosure - Potentiometers and display are mounted to this.
  • Board Mount - Holds the arduino nano and my makeshift 18 pin “rails”
  • Primary Enclosure - Everything slides into this and 4x M3 screws are used to hold it together.
  • Display Mount - Holds the display in place (2x M3 screws used here as well)
  • Knobs - Press fit onto potentiometers. There's a “knob.stl” file and a "knob infill.stl" file. I started with the knob file in prusaslicer, loaded the infill .stl in as a modifier, and then used the honeycomb infill and changed the “Bottom solid layers” and “Top solid layers” to 0. You can use whatever infill you'd like for your knobs.

I modeled it all in Onshape and here's the link to the file. Feel free to make adjustments as needed.

Here's a list of what I purchased/used:

If I were to do this again, I would have used a dev board with more memory. I was going to attempt to do some cool UI stuff, but I quickly ran out of memory on the nano. I had a firebeetle esp32 board around that I have for another project that could certainly handle more. I'd suggest upgrading from the nano and making your own board mount design to match that. I display the current volumes of chrome, spotify, discord, a specified selection of games, global volume, and the active window. I can upload my arduino code upon request.
