I designed a parametric quick-connect dust collection port, inspired by the Magport. I didn't like other models and wanted it to be as simple and low profile as possible.

It uses magnets to quickly change the hose to another woodworking machine. It consist of a female and male port, the male has an extension which will slide into a recess in the female part (giggedy).

The Fusion360 file allows you to change the outer diameter, the amount of magnets, the magnet size, amount of magnets, wall thickness, the height, …

For each connection you need to print 3 parts:

  • 2 ports
  • 1 insert

The provided step files were used for the prints in the pictures (100mm flex hose).

There are 6 - 6x2mm holes for the same size magnets, this is strong enough for my 0.4mm thick flex hose, but was not strong enough for 0.7mm flex hose. (0.4mm should be size most people have in their workshops). I would not recommend to make the insert smaller, as a first iteration with 6 6x2mm magnets was not strong enough with a smaller insert. I make the magnet holes exactly the same size as the magnets so I can just press them in and don't need glue

The insert then needs to be glued into one of the ports to create the male connector. I believe it's better to use a thicker, filler type glue (epoxy maybe?) so it seals really well.

The insert edges don't print super clean due to the angles, but I had no problems with the assembly because of that
