This ring holds eight 5 mm white LEDs and is held in place by four cylindrical magnets (4 mm diameter, 6 mm length). It is placed around the hole between the rear compartment (that holds the laser tube) and the front compartment (that holds the work piece) of a K40 laser cutter. This enables you to see where the laser will cut without having to install cross line lasers around the laser optic.
There are other variants of this that can be freely positioned over the hole. This one snaps into place (there is a “lip”, that centers it). In my case this works well, but you should probably check if your laser beam is centered in the hole of your K40 before printing this.
I used some random LEDs from my parts case and they work well even in daylight. You can probably get even brighter ones, if you shop around.
The FreeCAD file is included if you want to adjust for a different LED or magnet size.
No supports needed.
