After upgrading my Anet A8 with a capacitive ABL sensor, I was left with the original Z-axis endstop microswitch laying around. Since I run my printer with Octoprint, I tought of reusing this microswitch as a filament runout sensor. After scouting the internet for a model that fitted my switch without success, I decided to design my own.

It features easy insertion, low friction filament channel, no PTFE tubing and embedded arrow for easy direction remembering.

3 M3 bolts and 3 M3 nuts are required to assemble the sensor and can be long enough to attach the sensor to something else. You may need to add extra sensor wires if your RPi is located too far away from the sensor itself.

I use the Filament Sensor Simplified plugin by Lukáš Malatinský to use the sensor.

It can be adapted to work on any Klipper printer as well!

3D modeling isn't my job and it's time consuming, but I'm happy to share my work if it can be useful for someone! If you enjoyed my designs and would like to support my work, you can peek at our Ko-Fi page!
