I needed a way to mount my Telrad to my hadley build. With the help of this part by fortinmike, I now have two dovetail slots on the hadley.
I then found Beaver's Telrad Dovetail Mount, but found that the dovetail does not fit fortinmark's dovetail slot, nor the dovetail slot on my Orion scope. That is where this remix comes in. This part might help you if Beaver's mount didn't work. From what I can tell, my modifications should make it more compatible with other dovetail slots out there.
Just like Beaver's mount, you will need to add 6-32 nuts to the slots near the retaining thumbscrews. If you don't have any, check out his model here since he offers an .stl for a printable nut.
Comparing this model with Beaver's, I made a couple of changes:
- I added a “neck” between the dovetail and the body, which allows it to clear thumb screws when used with fortinmike's double dovetail mount.
- I modified the overall size of the dovetail itself, generally narrowing it, but being careful to follow the measurements of the two dovetails slots I had on hand. The “tips” of the wider end of the dovetail were also clipped to allow easier printing and wider compatibility. For instance, the fortinmike mount doesn't allow for the tips, while the metal mount on my Orion scope does.
I have no prior experience with CAD, so apologies for the sharp edges, slightly misaligned sections, etc. If you have more CAD experience, please feel free to edit the model and refine my mistakes.
I printed mine in Overture black PETG, with gyroid infill at 30%.
