When I first got the Combustion Inc predictive thermometer, I thought it was super neat. However, I had two issues with it:
- The display does not have a magnet so you can't stick it to metal surfaces
- The whole thing is two main “bits” that don't really have a way to attach to each other when they're not in use
So I decided to learn some basic modeling and cross both of those wants off the list. There are two strong magnets on the back and it will not easily fall off a metal surface. The probe case will fit alongside the display - I found that the fit is pretty tight on both bits which I liked but you may have to print at an ever so slightly larger size if your printer isn't well dialed in.
I printed this with a 0.6mm nozzle and 0.2mm layer size with supports on everywhere. I used the DX01 size magnets from KJ Magnetics: https://www.kjmagnetics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=DX01-N52
