I have a cheap minilathe with the usual problem of having to break out a 17mm wrench to tighten and loosen a bolt to lock the tailstock.
Rather than going through all the trouble to machine the usual style of camlock, I decided to go super simple and just make a tiny lever to slip over and tighten the bolt.
It works well and can lock things tight with just a quarter turn as long as your bed is a consistent thickness over the working range of the tailstock. It's probably supposed to be 10mm, but good luck finding that consistency out of the box. In my case I had to file about 0.5mm of paint and cast iron from the bottom in the area of the tailstock end.
