I wanted to keep the printer apparence as stock as possible.

The upgrades

  • Silent fan upgrades:
    • power supply fan replaced with Noctua 4020 12v fan
    • motherboard cooling fan with 2 NoiseBlocker 4010 12v fans
    • hot end cooling fan with Noctua 4010 fan & a 24 to 12v  buck convertor
  • BL Touch
  • Microswiss NG direct drive
  • Creality magnetic PEI buildplate
  • Motherboard upgrade to SKR Mini E3 V3. If you want to keep the original ribbon cable, you need this breakout board: https://github.com/darknode/cr-10s-pro-mods I have choosen to create my own wiring loom using pre made 2 meter long stepper motor cables for the X axis and Extruder motors, 24 AWG wires for BLTouch, parts cooling fan, hot end fan, thermistor and 20 AWG wires for the heating cartridge. The wires are terminated with either JST XH or Molex Micro-Fit 3.0 pin headers
  • X axis linear rail
  • Waveshare 4.3 inch DSI LCD Capacitive Touch Screen for raspberry pi - mounted in place of the original touchscreen
  • Klipper with Raspberry Pi mounted inside the printer, with separate 5V 4A power supply. The rpi uses UART for communicating with the motherboard.
