The four clarinet barrels presented here are the culmination of many hours of barrel design research and play-testing. These are all designed for Buffet instruments so you may need to tweak the size to fit another brand. No, these barrels will not replace Moennig or Chadash barrels but they can help you focus your tone, especially younger players. Print time of 8-9 hours and 45-50 grams of filament.
There are four models:
Moennig: Based upon the original Moennig barrel specification. 66 mm.
Beta 1: My take on a straight reverse taper that gives a little extra focus. 66 mm.
Beta 2: Features a higher choke point than Beta 1, closer to the mouthpiece, and really improves focus at the cost of extra resistance. 66 mm.
“Phil”: Designed with input from clarinetist Phil Paglialonga and 67mm in length.
All four barrels have built-in print support (don't turn on Prusa's) that snaps-off easily after printing. Grease your clarinet corks before first barrel use.
Print Instructions:
.1 mm layer height or finer to preserve the bore smoothness
.4 mm nozzle recommended
.4 mm line width recommended
PLA+ works fine
100% infill with CONCENTRIC infill (to mimic wood grain)
Supports OFF
If you have a Creality printer, use ArcWelder to help make the barrels as smooth as possible. YES, this makes a HUGE difference.
Please send me feedback. I can customize the barrel lengths, bore diameters, and choke points with very good accuracy.
Good luck and happy playing!
