Imperial Wall mounted display unit, displaying the Imperial emblem and the phrase “First Galactic Empire” written in aurebesh.
The display is lit using 12v LED neon strips, cut to length and place around the outside, the white base acts as a lightbox and gives a nice uniform backlit effect.

The LED strips I use can be found on eBay in lots of colours cheaply, I use them a lot in projects. See link below:

The front panel is designed in layers so you can use the m600 colour change g-code to print it on most machines (or adjust in prusaslicer to which ever pause print g-code your machine understands). You should start off with a transparent filament, then black, then whatever colour you want the bezel. I printed at .2 layer height in PETG, I find transparent PETG has a nicer transparency than PLA especially if you slow it down a bit during the first few layers.
The base plate should be printed in white for the best effect, it has screw threads in the bolt holes as in my first iteration of this I had screw in bolts, but I changed to push fit ones to make it easier to print, so don't worry too much about how accurately the threads print. The whole thing should assemble with a good friction fit on all the parts, so make sure everything works before you push in the bolts!
If you use the LED Neon strips recommended at 12v the thing should draw just about 380mA, and they don't get too warm (so PLA should be okay to use, but I would recommend PETG)
