I liked the Folding Under Kitchen Cabinet Fruit Hook (e.g., bananas) design by dmacnulty but I didn't have any of the assembly hardware: M3 bolt or M3 nut. So of course the best option is to spend hours on a remix—instead of just buying the hardware lol.

I designed a parametric version in OnShape that I believe improves on it in several ways:

1. Hardware Free Assembly
  • Pin is just a 20mm section of 1.75mm filament (instead of M3 bolt & 3M nut).
  • Could also use a wooden round toothpick

2. Snap-To-Hide Latch Feature
  • Base has a friction based latch to hide hook when it is not in use.
  • Satisfying ku-thunk sound.

3. Optimization Hook Shape
  • Weight distribution is positioned directly underneath hinge to reduce stress.
  • Octagonal cross-section (instead of circular) for improve print quality.

Assembly

Once both the hook and base are printed, cut a 25mm (or longer) section of 1.75mm layout the 3 parts on a flat surface.

Next take the filament and insert it through the base and hook.

Depending on your printing tolerance the fit might be very snug. If you have issues, take a 1mm drill bit and clean out the hole.

Attaching

You can use a strong double sided tape or two small #4 wood screws.
