This is a tray designed to germinate seeds in 4*4*2cm rockwool supports. Print one tray, one insert, and either one (or both) of the lids - you probably want to start with the sealed one and move to the one with vents after a few days.
The lids don't work with friction, they're definitely not airtight, but the "sealed" one is definitely good enough to keep a high level of humidity inside. Not being tight, it's also super easy to open to check on the seeds.
After tweaking a bit the model added as a remix source, I eventually made my own with significant changes:
- Only 6 slots. The hydroponic system I have works in modules with 6 slots, so it made it more convenient for me.
- Works for half cubes: I plant only smaller things, and full cubes don't fit later on in my system. This results in a slightly more compact design.
- Comes with lids to start the germination. Two lids are provided: one that's mostly sealed, and one for later on allowing air flow.
- More water flow and more support at the bottom: the model I used at first has very small openings at the bottom, which can be a problem when putting the insert back with wet rockwool already inserted. The insert was also not kept in place properly, which doesn't help when moving the tray. This design both allows water to move more easily, and keeps the insert well in place.
