My wife needed a brayer for the vinyl crafts, so I put together one using whatever hardware I had at hand. The goal was to make it as strong and resiliant as possible, so I reinforced all the critical areas with metal:
- The pins that attach the roller to the handle are screwed to the handle arm with a M3x16mm bolt.
- The arms of the handle attach to the cable with 2 M3x16 crews, that screw into 5x6 threaded inserts.
- An extra 8mm shaft with 100mm length is pushed inside the cable to reinforce the structure and to add some weight to the overhall brayer.
- The roller is complemented with 2 bearings for a smooth rolling experience.
- I Applied heavy duty duct tape to the roller for some braying cushioning and to avoid to leave layer marks on the vinyl.
List of Materials
- 4 x M3*16mm screws
- 2 x M3-5*6mm Threaded inserts
- 2 x Z809 bearings (8x22x7 mm)
Printing instruction
- The handle is split into 3 parts. I printed them all with organic supports.
- The roller and the pins that hold it do not need supports.
