I noticed that the Bobcat doesn't have a steering wheel. Of course this is a problem, how are you supposed to turn left or right without one?
To remedy this I have designed this wheel and shipped it to William Osman. I also added a crab to protect the Bobcat from thieves.
I remixed this wheel https://www.printables.com/model/519053-toy-steering-wheel-with-stand along with the Bobcat drive lever handle so that it can attach via bearing. The adorable crab was from SVG repo https://www.svgrepo.com/svg/140301/crab
In case you have a Bobcat and want to add the ability to turn left and right, here are the assembly and instruction steps:
Assembly & Parts Needed:
- 1x M4x30 screw
- 2x M4 nut
- 1x M4 washer
- 2x M3x8 screw
- 2x M3 ruthex insert
- 1x 608 bearing
Steps:
- Use soldering iron to push in the ruthex insert (Unfortunately I made the tolerance a little too large, I would recommend decreasing the size of the holes by 0.1mm if you're reprinting this.
- Press fit bearing
- Screw the M4 through the crab
- Press the wheel onto the base
- Using needle nose pliers, add the washer from the hexagonal base hole, then hold a nut in place while spinning the wheel to screw the nut down. Optionally add a second nut to hopefully lock it in a bit more.
- Put the base onto the Bobcat handle
- Screw in the 2 m3x8 screws into the ruthex inserts to lock it in place.
Printing notes:
- The base will need a tiny bit of support in the center, the wheel needs no supports.
