Introduction

  • This is a vent flap for the use with 92mm PC-fans.
  • This flap has the advantage, that it doesn't need space behind it for the flap movement.
  • It can be mounted directly on a vent mesh or in a vent system.

Building Instruction

Needed Material

  • 1 x Housing_92mm
  • 4 x Flap_92mm
  • 1 x PC-fan 92mm
  • 4 x screws 4,5 x (fan_thickness + 10) mm
  • Some spare filament

Printing instructions

  • Print the Housing with the mounting tabs down.
  • Print the Flaps with the completely flat side down.
  • Print with no support (the steepest angels are ~35°).

Assembly

  1. Drill the holes in the flaps to 1,7mm.
  2. Drill the small holes in the housing to 2,0mm.
  3. Push some filament in the first hole of each flap (use some pliers for easier insertion).
  4. Feed the filament through the hole in the housing (be aware of the orientation).
  5. Push some more filament through the housing into the flap to fixate it.
  6. Trim the excess filament flush.
  7. Test for free movement of individual flaps and the end-stops should work.
  8. Mount the fan with the screws, so that it blows into the flaps.
  9. Test the fan and check, if the flaps are moving the right way.
