I got my hands on some OVERTURE cardboard spools, and in order to use them in the AMS, an adapter was required. So I expand my CBAS series to include them.
The spool needs around 181 grams of filament with 15% infill, making it not lightweight but rather sturdy and smooth-running. So far it has always fit perfectly into the spools core.
Prints tested with:
0.4 nozzle, 3 walls, 15% infill, 0.2 layer height, no supports
Assembly
To assemble, first remove a cardboard side of the OVERTURE spool and replace it with a printed half, some of the glue residue may need to be removed. Hold the spool and turn it over, then remove the other side, now screw the halves together until they are tight.
It's best to wrap the filament with painter's tape beforehand to prevent it from unwinding on its own.
