These models were inspired by Barspin's fully assembled 3d printable wrench on Thingiverse. I wanted to expand the toolkit, and pliers seemed like a great place to start.

V4 (red) comes off the printer ready to use; no breaking out supports or oiling needed. As good as a pair from the hardware store (only $0.41!)… if you look past the fact they're made of plastic.

V5 (blue) requires removing supports under the nose.

Comparison between the two:

V4: Narrower nose; not as strong, un-tapered.

V5: Tapered, thicker nose for more strength and style, slightly tighter tolerances for less slop.

Note that the images are just renderings, and this is not a multicolor print.

PRINT SETTINGS:

  • Supports—build plate only:
    • V4: No supports needed, but optional to avoid slicer warnings.
    • V5: Supports under nose.
  • Gyroid infill, at whatever density you prefer. I used 15%.
  • 3 perimeters, for strength.
  • V5: Ironing on nose only.
  • I prefer fuzzy skin on the handles (only), but it's optional.
  • Print in some bright color to never loose your tools again!
  • DO NOT USE SUPPORTS ON ANYTHING EXCEPT THE BUILD PLATE!
