Adjustable sword mount for horizontal hanging

I wanted to hang my sword(s) horizontally on my wall, but I couldn't really find any good mounts for doing so

So I decided to design my own and upload it for anyone else looking for the same :)

Features

- Removable "Plaque" that you can modify/interchange
   - These slide in and out and allows you to customize the message on the plaque
- Slot for a command strip on the back
- Optional screw that supports the back of the sword to hold it upright and keep it from tilting backward in the mount
- Optional countersink hole to mount with drywall screw

Customizing Plaque

I have include the Fusion360 (.f3d) file for the Plaque.

  1. Open the .f3d in Fusion360
  2. On the lefthand side you'll see a menu
         a. Open Sketches -> text_box -> right click -> Edit Sketch
  3. Right click the existing text
  4. Select Edit Text
  5. On the righthand side you'll see the options to update the text
    1. a. You can also use custom special fonts :)
  6. After updating as desired, select "Ok" in the righthand menu where you updated the text
  7. Now just click "FINISH SKETCH" in the top menu
  8. You should now see the text updated in the model
  9. File -> Export

Printing

It is recommended to print the wall bracket and bolt as-is. The wall bracket will be much stronger if printed on its side. Also recommend to use Gyroid infill for added strength

The plaque, however, will print best with a very specific set of constraints:

  • Counterintuitively, you'll get the best results if you print the plaque with its very thin side touching the plate
  • For example, you should orient it so that the 2mm very thing face is on the plate
  • This will give you the best definition on your text
  • USE A BRIM!
  • I didn't need to use supports for the spindle that pop out the back, but feel free to do so
