With the moon regaining its popularity, allow me to present the most adorable space explorer ever imagined: an astronaut-costumed, 3D printable penguin!
This plucky penguin is ready to take one small step for man, and one giant leap for penguin-kind, as it waddles its way into the final frontier.
With a helmet that looks suspiciously like a fishbowl, Astro Pingu is ready to embark on the ultimate adventure: a moon landing of epic proportions.
Watch in awe as this fearless bird takes the universe by storm, proving once and for all that space exploration isn't just for humans—it's for penguins with big dreams and even bigger appetites for interstellar adventures and of course some galactic fish snacks!
Printing Instructions:
0.2mm layer height works well with 15% infill and Gyroid fill pattern.
Use either organic or grid supports for the main body with the flat face on the bed. Also set the seam to “Aligned” for the body.
Print the helmet on an angled position and set support material to 30% Overhang threshold.
For the life support set the seam to “Aligned” (Supports are not required for the life support)
Print all other parts with the flat side down.
Set the seams to rear for the feet and the beak.
Use glue for the feet if you wish but they should fit in very snug.
If you wish, you can perform a color change for the antenna on the life support.
Scale as you wish.
For general quality purposes, I recommend activating “Avoid crossing perimeters” & “External perimeters first” and for the supports a “Top contact Z distance” of 0.3.
Print in any desirable color combination. But trust me, PRUSAMENT Galaxy Black really adds a touch of sparkling lunar dust to Astro Pingu's helmet and life support.
Also use any form of silk filament for the visor to add some shine.
Assembly:
Assembly is quite intuitive as most parts either slide or pop-in. Only the the helmet to body attachment requires a peg.
Firmly press the visor into the helmet and it should click tight! At least it works for me. The penguin's beak should also just fit when pressed into the visor firmly. Otherwise add some glue. You will need some force to add the peg to the head and body. But it does snap in - you may wan to consider PETG for the peg for better squishiness.
FREE BONUS: Floats in space too!
Please let me know if there are any issues before rating it 1 Star as certain users prefer to do here. Thx
Enjoy & Happy Printing!
