I needed to mount my LG OLED G series TV to the wall - it is intended to sit flush against the wall and hence required a recessed spot for the power.
I couldn't find anything like this available in my country, so designed it from scratch based on my needs.
Use case
Recessed power outlet intended to be used for mounting a TV flush to the wall without any dangling cables.
Provides 1 power socket as well as a channel for low voltage cables (ethernet, HDMI, etc.) that are run behind the drywall.
Compatible socket
It's designed to be used with Siemens Delta series power socket.
I assume it might be compatible with other brands/sockets of similar size.
Mounting
- Attach the socket mechanism to the electrical box - either by dedicated screws or in Siemens Delta case they have sort of an expanding side arms that dig into the electrical box. Don't forget to attach power cables before doing this.
- Socket with the electrical box goes inside a recessed places on the back of the 3D model.
- Put the power sockets front cover from the front of the 3D model and screw it together with the socket mechanism via the central screw. This should hold all parts neatly together.
- Mount inside of a drywall and if needed run low voltage cables. I used the small drywall screws+anchor from the particular electrical box.
Print settings
- Material: PLA/PETG
- Layer height: 0.20mm
- Infill: 15-20% should be fine
- Print direction: I printed it facing down which lead to some visible overhands (can see it in pics) - not pretty, but considering its going behind the TV, I'm fine with that. If the looks are of importance can experiment with the print direction and custom supports.
- Supports: Yes
