So what we have here is an amazing feat of engineering. If you're like me and have a bunch of iPods of different styles find a dock is a pain because you end up buying multiple ones. This dock as an opening designed to fit both an ipod mini or an ipod classic interchangeably.
There's a hole in the bottom to fit a standard 30pin connector for charging and a cut out to run the wire towards the back.
I'd advise plugging the connector into your ipod, then pushing it into the cutout before gluing it into place. This way you're guaranteed to get the connector to perfectly line up with the charging hole.
This fine design also includes a completely legit* logo and font.
*I may have drawn the logo in MS Paint, and used Comic Sans.
