Description
This is a jig for a router you can use to quickly carve linear patterns of inclined shapes into a wood surface, to add a decorative element to your woodwork.
It comprises a linear ‘rail’ template, which attaches to the work piece with clamps, and a routing ramp, which sits in indexing holes in the template. Print as many rail template pieces as you like to increase the length of the rail (or just print two and alternately move the templates between carvings).
Different routing ramps provide for different incline angles, sizes and shapes of router carving. All the channels are sized for a 3/8" bearing or router bushing.
Printing
There are longer and shorter ramps suitable for smaller or larger print beds, while the rail template can be printed on the smallest bed.
The template prints flat. The ramps should be printed top face down (the indexing pegs in the base facing up). No supports required.
I've provided a few options to start, but I'll be adding more templates and ramps.
Print your choice of template and ramp.
Routing
All power tools, including routers, have the potential to cause injury, and you use these templates entirely at your own risk. You should be familiar with safe use of any tools you use, follow safe practices, and should wear appropriate personal protection equipment when operating power tools.
I recommend using a palm router, with a bushing that fits the minimum width of the ramp slot, but a smaller bushing (or router bit bearing) will also work - you'll just have to move the router around to clear out the wood.

Clamp the template to the workpiece, and secure the workpiece to a fixed work surface. You may find it necessary to move the clamps to provide clearance for the ramp as you move the ramp around the different index holes. If so, keep the workpiece and template secured to the fixed work surface with at least two clamps at all times, to prevent slippage.
