This tool is designed to help you draw mandalas (or any other sort of circular pattern) easily.
Open the main part, slide your template(s) in, close it, use one of your fingers to keep the center of the bearing where you want the center of your future drawing to be, and voilà, you are ready to draw !
- Customizable :
The design is made so you can easily customize it. Right now it fits to an A4 sized piece of paper, but you could very easily make it larger. An empty template is also provided in the model files. Feel free to use your favorite CAD or slicer to subtract any shape you fancy, and participate in creating a collection of cool new templates. (I would be very glad to see what you come up with :) )
- Magnets :
To make it nicer to open and close the tool, I embedded two magnets (height 1.5mm x diameter 1cm, or a bit smaller should be ok too). One is located inside the top part and the other inside the bottom part, at the same depth. You can easily stop the print at the right moment and drop your magnets.
- Printing notes
I tried to adjust tolerances so everything fits nicely together. Some of the settings I used are and think are important:
Layer height: 0.2mm
External perimeters first: on
Extrusion width: 0.4mm
Speed: not too fast (I used 100mm/s and 40% for the external perimeters. But this will depend on your printer…)
Brim: recommended for the template parts, but not for the main parts
Top layer ironing: best on the template parts, not necessary on the main parts
- Future versions :
I've already been working on a V2, that I didn't have time to print and tune yet, but it should be there soon ! It will feature a sturdier body and some markings to help you keep track of your (semi)rotations.
