Recently upgraded my main thermostat to a EcoBee 4, so I had a “Spare” Ecobee 3…
After rewiring the IR tube heater in the garage I needed a way to surface mount the stat/wire as going through the drywall at this time wasn't a option.
Wanted it to still look clean, so I knocked together a quick model based on the backplane which allowed the wire to pass, and also allowed it to mount securely.
Simple print/model, if I have time I'll add pictures but I think you can figure it out.
The “solid” bottom is intentional, I simply used a construction knife to split the thin layer where the wire was to pass in the middle, this when the wire was pressed into the tunnel “gripped” it slightly so it didn't slide in/out of the spacer.
