The original incubator worked fine, but there were several shortcomings. So I decided to make a new one. The main improvements are:
- Six compartments, instead of one. You can use them to store brain slices from different regions or animals.
- Larger visor. Ideally, this can prevent air from accumulating under the slice compartments, ensuring the slices are in contact with ACSF on both sides.
- Air stone fixture. The cage on the bottom of the visor can hold the air stone in place, providing more consistent bubbling.
- Gratings on the “bottom” piece. Ideally, the gratings can also prevent air bubbles from getting trapped under the compartments.
I also uploaded the f3d file for the legs. You can adjust them accordingly to fit your beaker.
The legs were designed without any tolerance. If you're using a thicker mesh, print at a slightly larger size (e.g. 103%) to compensate for the thickness of the mesh.
