Add some color to your aquarium with a custom rim! The step file is designed for this rimless aquarium: amazon The fusion file is included for customization.

Unless you have a MASSIVE printer, you'll need to slice the file into parts (see the image of the build plate for an example). Make sure you are slicing such that the corners are printed as one piece or you will lose structural rigidity.

The example photo is printed inf 4 parts split on a diagonal in translucent green PETG.

I do not recommend attempting this on any aquarium with a cross-brace (anything bigger than 40 gal typically).

Instructions:

To modify the design:

  1. Open in Autodesk Fusion
  2. Import the file
  3. In the top bar under the solid workspace click the dropdown for Modify
  4. Click Change Parameters (second from the bottom)
  5. Adjust the parameters based on your measurements, the important parameters are:
    1. aquarium_width
    2. aquarium_depth
    3. glass_thickness - Very important to measure with calipers to achieve a snap fit, adjust the tolerance or inside fillets if you have problems getting the corners in
    4. plastic_thickness - control how strong the part is
    5. inner_height - how far the plastic reaches down into the tank
    6. outer_height - how far the plastic reaches down outside of the tank
  6. Print!

Most plastic rims can be removed with a razor blade, once the glass is cleaned of silicone you can snap these into place with a press fit.
