Had to quickly whip up a gift for a toddler, they are showing quite an interest in nature and music so a pair of maracas sounded about right.
The Maraca is composed of two parts, the stem and the cap, both are joined together with just a hot glue gun, the adhesion is surprisingly good, on the test prints I managed to break the stem before the glue had a chance to budge.
They are printed in PLA, with “fuzzy skin” enabled, which gives a nice texture that feels good to hold, and I believe also provides for a rough surface for the glue to hold.
For the big one I filled it with about a spoonful of black beans, the small one has about the same volume of rice.
They both use the same model, for the small one I printed the stem at 70% scale, and the cap at 70% scale for the X and Y axis, and 100% to the Z axis.
