I use this hook under my desk. The flat part of the hook is roughly 35mm or 1 3/8" deep. Includes a small space on top to fit over a rubber gasket on my desk frame screws (Fully Jarvis), but will work with any flat surface.
A pen holder for chunky markers, pens, and similarly shaped tools. Assembled with a few dots of CA/super glue. Hexagons are circumscribed 20mm.
