UPDATE 3/16/25:
I found that the added weight of using the extension arm causes the mirror to rotate forward at the location where the extension arm and the OEM arm kit attach. To remedy this, I have added two new parts, the “Mirror droop stay sleeve" and the “Mirror droop stay adapter.” The adapter has two versions, each providing different angles at which it stops the mirror from rotating. These can be printed in a vertical orientation without the use of supports. The original arm has remained untouched.
Installation will require:
- Removal of the extension arm from the OEM arm
- Removing the 4 Philips head screws from the OEM arm ball mount
- Popping the mounting flange off of the ball
- Sliding the Mirror droop sleeve over the arm
- Reinstalling the mounting flange and extension arm
- Then, you can pivot the mirror and extension arm up and slide the adapter into place, choosing which works best for you. I have found that the larger adapter works perfectly for me
_________
This extension arm places a Wolfbox mirror (I have a G930) in a much more favorable position and angle in the Mercedes Sprinter. I designed this for my 2021 144 Sprinter. The Sprinter does not use the standard style mirror mount, which is present on the Wolfbox OEM mount, but I found an adapter pack that works with it. Using the OEM kit and adapters, the Wolfbox camera is blocked by the windshield trim, and the mirror is pivoted facing the floor and cannot be adjusted enough for a proper viewing angle. This extension arm corrects that, making it useful with a clear view of the camera and a good angle for the mirror.
It requires -
- Wolfbox OEM mount kit - https://a.co/d/e1pCtf2
- OEM mirror mount adapters - https://a.co/d/g79UpEm
- 4 - M3x30mm screws
- Used with the nuts on the Base_OEM_Kit_Side to connect to the OEM mount kit.
- 4 - M3 nuts
- 4 - M3x20mm screws
- Used on the Base_Mirror_Side to connect to the wolfbox mirror
This should be printed in a heat-resistant and UV-stable material such as ASA.
Recommend Parameters:
- Supports (required on 3 parts. Visible in photo)
- 0.16 layer height
- 4 or 5 walls
- 5 top and bottom surfaces
- 20% or higher infill
Instructions:
- Shims - 2 are required to be printed for this
- Arm - The arm has one side which has a rounded area missing. This side goes against the Wolfbox OEM Kit and creates the space needed for a full range of motion against the internal ball mount.
- Bases - There are 2 and they are different. The names identify which goes on which side. The one with cutouts for the 3mm nuts goes on the Wolfbox OEM kit side and also uses the longer 30mm screws.
- The print layout in the 3mf file has the parts oriented on the vertices which allow for the greatest part strength based on layer lines.
- The sliced photos show the required locations for supports
