If you need to raise the contact point on your 8BitDo Ultimate 2C thumbstick (or any similar controller with a 17 mm thumbstick diameter), you can print a custom TPU part to enhance grip and smoothness. To ensure success:
- Material Prep: Use TPU that is sufficiently dry to prevent print defects.
- Adhesion: Although the contact point with the print bed is small, it should adhere well to PEI surfaces.
- Post-Processing: After printing, make six evenly spaced cuts from the bottom of the printed piece to facilitate easy removal and installation.
- Print Settings for Smoothness:
- Slow the print speed down to around 20 mm/s in last 10 layers for finer surface quality.
- Disable cooling fans for a smoother finish.
- Consider using a spiral (vase) mode for more transparent part.
- Material Choice: QIDI TPU 95A High Flow works well, especially in spiral infill mode. A “standard” (non-smooth) version may provide slightly more grip if that’s preferred.
