MOZA HGP Shifter Plunger Elastomer

Your MOZA Racing HGP Shifter might get loose and wobbly. That is because MOZA have put bad plungers in there, the springs brake! But there is an easy fix for that. Either replace plunger (or the springs in there), or print new plungers yourself.

This is a replacement of the plunger body/elastomer. But it keeps the ball. So you need to remove the ball from each plunger and then print the items and put together just what you need to get a feel if the elastomer got good.

Print instructions:

Flange: Print in PETG with 0.4 mm nozzle for the flange.
Elastomer: Print in TPU. This could be tricky, have included a 3MF with no side walls and gyroid infill to get the correct springy feel. Otherwise a normal one perimeter sidewall could be used, with gyroid infill as well, this one not so dense infill, maybe 15%.

Preparation to remove balls:

First remove casing, then remove the four screws at bottom so the whole assembly comes loose. Do not try to remove the large hex screws. Just gently remove the sides. Be aware of the cables, you need to cut away the white glue to be able to disconnect them.

The plungers can be hard to remove. But I found it easy if you use a universal plier or whatever they are called, hold the rim, and then gently twist so that plier end becomes a “lever” and maybe twist a little at the same time. They should come off then, probobably with some scratches on them though.

Then put the plungers in a vise and use a steel nail to knock out the balls. Maybe grind down the tip on the nail so it becomes easier.
