The DJI O4 Air Unit is a perfect video transmission and recording solution for small copters, such as whoops. But it can take up to 9W power which leads to overheating if there is no quite strong air flow around. So it is not possible to simply mount it onto e.g. r/c boats or r/c cars.
To overcome this limitation I have designed a special housing for both the board and camera module, which ensures enough cooling by using a powerful fan. The unit weighs about 38g with dimensions of about 50x30x38mm.
I took care for accessability of both USB port and binding button without need for opening the housing.
For verification the unit has already run for 20 minutes at room temperature without any temperature warning.

- DJI Air Unit (lite)
- Step Down Converter 5V (e.g. https://www.ebay.de/itm/125682901850)
- Fan 5V, 30x30x6mm, Sunon MF30060V11000UA99 (e.g. https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07ZBRGC5K)
- 2 screws with nuts M3x8mm, preferrably made of nylon
- 4 screws M2x10mm
- 2 screws M2x5mm
- cables for wiring
Update from 03-06-2025:
I slightly enlarged the USB plug hole for making more cables compatible.
Update from 05-25-2025:
I redesigned the vent holes on the lid to better protect the device from entering dirt or splash water. Also better mechanical protection for the cooling fan.
