With a Trident printer, headroom is limited, and the umbilical needs extra space to function effectively. To address this, I remixed a few G2E extruder designs and created two mounts: a swivel mount on the toolhead, which currently pivots on an M3 screw, and a mount on the back-right extrusion. The mount has a slight angle to apply pre-load, preventing the chain from sagging under its own weight. The holes on the swivel part might be bit small, please drill it out. I will fix it shortly.

Bill of Materials (BOM)

  • 6 heat-set inserts for cable chain mounting (my cable chain has three mounting holes)
  • 2 M3x8 SCHS screws
  • 1 M3 roll-in nut

Bearing Version

The bearing version uses a press-fit F625ZZ flange bearing with a flange outer diameter (OD) of 16mm, a body OD of 14mm, and a depth of 5mm.

You will need a heat-set insert on the top of the swivel. The screw enters from the bottom of the mount and secures the swivel in place.

Bill of Materials (BOM) (In Addition to the Above Items)

  • 1 heat-set insert for cable chain mounting (my cable chain has three mounting holes)
  • 1 F625ZZ bearing

Zip Tie

The bearing versions has slots for a zip tile to keep the cable from moving around. There is also a zip tile slot at the base.
