What is this?
MagniPen is a compact, pen-shaped tool designed to help you pick up, move, and place small metal objects like precision screws with ease. Using a simple spring-loaded mechanism and a strong neodymium magnet, it provides a reliable and intuitive way to handle tiny components in electronics, watchmaking, and other delicate tasks.
Features
- Optimized for 3D Printing – The body is a square prism for easy printing and smooth sliding of moving parts.
- Spring-Loaded Mechanism – Uses a compression spring (≥3.66mm ID, ≥4.5mm OD, ~28mm length) to extend and retract the magnetic tip.
- Secure Assembly – Pins must be pressure-mounted in the piston holes with no tolerance, ensuring a firm fit. Light sanding may be required if they are too tight. If they don't fit all the way to the bottom of the hole that's the right amount of sanding. They should be pushed in place by pushing the trigger once the piston is fully mounted in the cylinder.
- Powerful Magnetic Grip – The tool is designed for 8×1.5mm neodymium disc magnets, superglued to the piston’s base for strong and consistent attraction.
- Easy Printing & Assembly – All parts should be printed on their longer faces for strength. The mechanism should be tested by pressing it after full assembly to secure the pins in place.
Printing
PLA or PETG are fine. Just place each part on one of the largest flat faces. No supports needed. 0.2 layer height and 0.4 nozzle are fine.
