A mount that attaches to the centre of the K1 Max to attach two 2020 aluminium extrusions, I have used to mount an ERCF.

I have built an ERCF for my K1 Max and this allows for aluminium extrusions to be fixed across the top middle of the printer as I don't have enough space to mount it at the rear.

For the K1 Max you will want 2x 2020 Aluminium extrusions at least 440mm long, but I would probably get at least 450mm to be safe.

I left enough space to fit the riser I printed a while ago (https://www.printables.com/model/1023523-creality-k1-max-cover) and still allow the glass to be lifted, so they might be quite tall for a stock lid.

3mm T-nuts (with M3x8mm screws) are used to secure the Aluminium extrusions in place I used these https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09L4ZGV7V as well as the ERCF.

In total you will need:

  • 4x 3mm T-nuts,
  • 4x M3x8mm screws,
  • 2x M3x10mm screws to mount on the side,
  • 2x 2020 aluminium extrusions (at your desired length)

So far the mount has been very stable and holds the weight of the ERCF quite easily, but I would take caution when screwing them to the panel to not put too much pressure on the acrylic panels. The screws are more to stop the mount from moving rather than to hold the weight themselves, most of the weight should end up on the frame. The screws need to be in tight, but not too tight. (I should probably invest in some washers to help reduce any strain on the panels).

I printed these with 50% Gyroid infill out of PETG at 0.2mm layer height with 5 walls and 5 top/bottom layers, I wouldn't recommend PLA as it may be too brittle, but ABS or ASA should work.
