I designed this spare spool to accept a steel axle rather than to include the axle in the print. This is to enable me to wind thread onto the bobbin using a drill. A plastic axle wouldn't survive for long.
For the axle use 3mm or 1/8" steel rod and clean out the hole accordingly and press it in. The length I used was 30mm (the standard axle is 28.50mm but there is plenty room for 30).
I printed the bobbin vertically using PLA with organic PETG support so the support doesn't stick but there are plenty of options.
