This model is a case I recently designed to house an adapter that allows PlayStation 2 controllers to be used as standard XInput devices on any PC, without extra software!

The adapter supports hot plugging and offers simple display output to show when a controller is connected. The button in the back is required for flashing the Arduino after flashing an XInput sketch; more information on this here.

Required Hardware

  • Arduino Pro Mini
  • Microswitch to reset the Arduino
  • PS2 controller extension cable (you'll need to harvest the socket from this cable to solder its wires to the Arduino)
  • 0.96in display
  • 8 M3 screws, ideally M3x6
    • M3x10 screws for the outer 4 screws are fine, but use M3x6 screws for holding the display bezel, since the screws could otherwise interfere with the Arduino or the wiring

Printing

  • PLA works great, I expect other non-flexible materials to work too
  • Enable supports on the display bezel and the top part of the case
  • I used Recycling Fabrik PLA Funkelnde Kerze for the body, Bambu PLA Basic Black for the display bezel and button

Notes

  • Hold the Arduino in place using hot glue
  • The button, the display, and the PS2 controller connector are clamped into place; no glue is strictly necessary
