Among the regular maintenance tasks for a printer is the lubrication of its linear bearings. However, before applying new lubricant, the bearings should be thoroughly cleaned. This will remove old grease and any potential contaminants.
Linear Bearing Cleaning Procedure:
- Check the cleaner's cleanliness.
- Insert the bearing into the cleaner.
- Pour cleaning fluid (IPA) inside.
- Screw on the cap and lightly tighten it so that the bearing isn't loose.
- Shake several times.
- Unscrew the cap.
- Pour out the contaminated fluid.
- Clean the cleaner.
- Repeat the entire procedure if necessary.
- Allow the cleaned bearing to dry thoroughly from the cleaning fluid.
- Apply the appropriate lubricant to the bearing
