A project inspired by this forum topic, it allows you to use a standard USB power source with a Garmin Flush Out-front mount, Triathlon mount and probably also mounts from other brands that are compatible with the Garmin Flush Out-front Mount Insert (part number 010-12563-01, about 10 euro).
Besides a compatible mount you'll need:
- 2x pogo pins, see picture for dimensions (100 pieces “Yibuy” brand ~15 euro at amazon.de)
- 2x bolt M3 x 12mm
- 1x bolt M2.5 x 10mm (I used one with countersunk head)
- 1x threaded insert M2.5 x 5 x 3.5mm or M2.5 x 4 x 3.5mm
- USB cable with 3mm outside diameter
- tie-wrap (fix cable to the mount, acts as strain relief)
You'll need to remove a bit of plastic from the underside of the Garmin mount for the “ears” of the bottom part to fit. I used a Dremel with a cutting disc.
Noteworthy for soldering: the lower-right pin should provide +5V. The pins are really small so you'll need a delicate soldering tip.
2022-02-20 assembled and it works, but have yet to use it in anger; no idea yet if it's reliable on long rides over bumpy surfaces in shitty weather 😉
